Overview of EfM Program
Every baptized person is called to ministry. The Education for Ministry (EfM) program provides people with the education to carry out that ministry. During the Service of Confirmation we ask God to "Renew in these your servants the covenant you made with them at Baptism. Send them forth in the power of the Spirit to perform the service you set before them." EfM offers an opportunity to discover how to respond to the call to Christian service.
Education for Ministry is offered through the good offices of St. Anne's. This is a theological education by extension program of the University of the South (Sewanee). EFM is centered on small group seminar meetings coordinated by a mentor. It is a four year program covering the Old Testament, New Testament, Church History and Theology. Commitments are made a year at a time.
Each EFM seminar session includes these components: worship, chapter discussion (of materials provided by Sewanee) and Theological Reflection (a special method developed by Sewanee over the past 25 years to relate the incidents of our lives to scripture.)
Ron Sigrist is the mentor for the St. Anne’s EfM seminars. His dedication to EfM serves as witness to the program.
